I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what couples should know before they get married. For one thing, I’ve been making some updates and revisions on FamilyLife’s Preparing for Marriage workbook, which is used by thousands of pastors and counselors around the country each year for premarriage counseling. In addition, my younger daughter, Missy, was married recently. As a parent you think of all the things you should tell a child before marriage, and nothing ever seems to be enough.

#1: Marriage is not all about you. It’s not about your happiness and self-fulfillment. It’s not about getting your needs met. It’s about going through life together and serving God together and serving each other. It’s about establishing a family. It’s about committing your lives to each other even though you may be very different in 10, 20, or 40 years from the people you are now.

#2: You are about to learn a painful lesson—you are both very selfish people. This may be difficult to comprehend during the happy and hazy days of courtship, but it’s true, and it shocks many couples during their first years of marriage. It’s important to know this revelation of selfishness is coming, because then you can make adjustments for it, and you will be a lot better off.

#3: The person you love the most is also the person who can hurt you the deepest. That’s the risk and pain of marriage. And the beauty of marriage is working through your hurt and pain and resolving your conflicts and solving your problems.

#4: You can’t make it work on your own. It’s obvious that marriage is difficult—just look at how many couples today end in divorce. This is why it’s so critical to center your lives and your marriage on the God who created marriage. To make your marriage last for a lifetime, you need to rely on God for the power and love and strength and wisdom and endurance you need.

#5: Never stop enjoying each other. Always remember that marriage is an incredible gift to be enjoyed. Ecclesiastes 9:9 says, “Enjoy life with the woman whom you love all the days of your fleeting life which He has given to you under the sun; for this is your reward in life and in your toil in which you have labored under the sun.”

Enjoy the little things of life with your spouse: the food you enjoy together at home or in restaurants … the movies you like … the little inside jokes nobody else understands except for you … the times you make each other laugh … the games you play together.

And focus on making memories together: Plan special dates and weekend getaways. Make sure you reserve time for each other after you have kids. When you are old, you won’t look back and remember how great it was to buy that new furniture or watch that great show on television. You’re going to remember what you did together and saw together and created together.

How about you? If you were talking to an engaged couple about what you wish you’d known before marriage, what would you say? Write down your thoughts in the comments section below.

Many wonder why there are more women shopping in any given natural foods store at a certain moment than there are men. Some questions that are asked are whether or not this is due to the shop being a natural foods store or whether it is an indication that women are still doing the majority of the grocery shopping. While both positions can certainly be argued, most women will tell you that not only do they do more of the grocery shopping, but also that they are much more concerned about healthy lifestyles than the men they know are. In the 1980s, having a healthy lifestyle meant doing aerobics; in the 21st century it means doing yoga and eating organic foods.

Women are so concerned with this type of a healthy lifestyle because they read much more about health and fitness than men do. Of course, these are generalizations and there are plenty of exceptions to the rules, but in general, as can be predicted by counting the number of women’s health and fitness magazines and the corresponding number of men’s health and fitness magazines, more women are reading about this topic than men are. Of course, in today’s day and age, just as many people are reading online as are reading in magazines (perhaps even more) but many websites for health and fitness are more geared toward female readers.

Most mothers consider taking care of their families in a healthy way a very high priority. In order to do this, they want to be informed about what all those things that are now being added to the majority of mainstream prepared foods (namely hydrogenated oils and high fructose corn syrup). In order to choose the best foods for our own body and for the people around us, one must be able to analyze the ingredients on the back of the box. One way to do this is to go through the regular supermarket reading the lists of ingredients on every jar and box that you might purchase.

Perhaps an easier solution is to shop at a natural foods store, where they don’t sell foods that have hydrogenated oils and high fructose corn syrup in them. More and more women are turning to this alternative because although the food in such shops is more expensive than mainstream food stores, it can not be denied that obesity and diabetes are becoming frighteningly common in the US.

It seems that more women than men are concerned about this fact and looking to find ways to fight it. Of course, eating organic foods is not the only answer, other lifestyle factors have to be addressed too, namely exercise and one’s general activity level (i.e. do you spend your evenings in front of the television or in the garden?). All of these factors have women hopping to attention and trying to find solutions through organic food stores, yoga and maybe even a little meditation.

Starting as far back as 1989, Lifestyles has built itself into a worldwide company, spanning over 30 countries today. In searching for that product that would separate the company from other health and wellness companies around the world, we didn’t really see anything that stood out with the “wow” factor when first browsing the website. So instead, we moved on to the opportunity and see what it had to offer.

To join, you can purchase a membership for $40 and receive a distributor kit, discounts, bonuses, company and up-line support, along with your membership selling abilities to span worldwide. Lifestyles offers a “Premier Pack” or “Instant Direct” plan which are both step ups from the forty dollar starter package. They offer more points for products and additional discounts off, but as far as a price for these programs, you will have to call the company, because we couldn’t find it on the website.

As we look at the compensation plan, we can’t really give you a definite answer as most of the information is vague from what we have found regarding the plan. This is not something new that Lifestyles has invented or anything, in fact it’s quite common in many companies who are trying to get you to talk with them either over the phone, or by video email. Why? For the same reason you go to a timeshare presentation and they want you to buy now and have that sale for “today and today only.” Many people who search a company online like Lifestyles sometimes don’t understand all aspects of the company and go looking for another company because of it. So instead, companies will leave just enough information to peak your interest so you will call and ask more questions. They do offer information on their compensation plan, but not specifics all the way down to the bone.

However, we’ll leave you with some of it and you can give them a call if you want more information. You have the opportunity through Lifestyles company to earn retail and wholesale income. We found this interesting as people who refer other people even if they were only customers, they received discounted prices for each person they referred to the company. There wasn’t an actual number, but it was intriguing enough that someone will want to find out more information. The rest is through generation, fast track, and organizational bonuses built up from duplication which seems to be what the company revolves around according to their website. While probably one of the first companies to come into the internet health and wellness world, the company today seems to leave informational holes in hopes of explaining everything on the phone.

Cigarette smoking is one of the most addictive substances there is. Each year, millions of people try to quit and many of them succeed. But many of them fail. In order not to fail when you stop-smoking, you should make it a point to make some changes in your lifestyle so that you have a better chance of remaining smoke free.

One thing that you should do is to find something else to do with your time when you normally have a smoking break. If you find that you are going outside to have a cigarette each day at 10 a.m., find something else to do with that break time. You can read a magazine or even practice some sort of art form for that quick break. Anything but going outside where you will feel inclined to have a cigarette.

When you stop-smoking, it is a good idea to tell your friends. This way you can enlist their support to help you stop-smoking. If you feel the urge for a cigarette, talk to one of your encouraging friends who will warn you off the cigarette. Friends like to be of use, so use them in this way. Promise to do the same thing for someone else as a way to pay back this debt.

Many people find that it is very difficult to go to a bar when you are trying to stop-smoking. Alcohol loosens your inhibitions and makes you want to do things that you know you should not. Try avoiding bars for a while or go to those that are smoke free. This is at least until you get over the one month hump where you can say that you are smoke free. It takes 48 hours for the nicotine to get out of your system and the physical dependency on cigarettes to subside. Once this is over, you have only a psychological dependency on smoking cigarettes.

Make some lifestyle changes to help you stop-smoking by finding something to do with your hands while you are watching television or other times when you are normally smoking. You can try needlework, drawing, or even using a finger exercise ball to give you something to do when you are sitting there, aching for a cigarette.

Speaking of exercise, try incorporating exercise into your life once you stop-smoking. Many people who stop-smoking end up gaining weight after they quit. Cigarette cravings tend to feel like food cravings. Instead of eating, exercise. Once you make up your mind to stop-smoking, make these changes in your lifestyle and you will see that you not only feel better about yourself, but you look better as well.

“10 inspirational quotes than can improve yourself

It might take a little coffee or probably a few rounds of beer or any other booze you could get your hands on when it comes to relaxing after a hard day’s work. Well, yeah I’m guilty about that one as well, unless I’m caught dead wearing a lampshade over my head after a few rounds of vodka… half-naked! Okay, bad example and I apologize to everyone reading this after getting nightmares about me in that state of drunken stupor.

Just don’t ask how it happened, please. But what’s really interesting is that how do people go through the usual part of life when faced with vein-popping stress? I mean, the new age thing like Zen or yoga is one of the good things and it actually works. Is there room for the intellectual side of people who can actually smell the roses-in-a-can while on the move? It kind of had me thinking that there really must be something in this ‘mind-over-matter’ thing.

Humor is indeed the best medicine there is whenever you are. I mean anyone can pay good money to listen to a comedian just to make you wet your pants after laughing so hard. Despite of what’s been happening, and to those who has gone though the ordeal, it’s better to just laugh while facing the troubles with a clear mind than anger with a clouded vision. One of my favorite celebrities of all time may have to be Woody Allen. Now this is one guy who gives you the in-your-face bluntness that he pulls out with gusto, even without even trying. You can talk just about anything with a man, and he’s bound to mock the subject and you’ll end up laughing rather than being upset about it.

Allen has this to say: 1. “”Money is better than poverty, if only for financial reasons.”" It sounds good to me, I mean the practicality of all things does involve money but it doesn’t have to take an arm and a leg to get it.

2. “”I believe there is something out there watching us. Unfortunately, it’s the government.”" ‘Nuff said.

3. “”There are worse things in life than death. Have you ever spent an evening with an insurance salesman?”" This happens to be one of the classic ones. I mean the issue about life’s little problems isn’t all that bad, until ‘he’ shows up.

Sure, relationships can get complicated, or does have its complications that probably any author about relationships is bound to discover it soon. We follow what our heart desires, unless you’re talking about the heart as in the heart that pump blood throughout your body.

4. “”Love is the answer, but while you’re waiting for the answer, sex raises some pretty interesting questions.”" And if you want more, just keep on asking!

5. “”A fast word about oral contraception. I asked a girl to go to bed with me, she said ‘no’.”" It sounds, ‘practical’, I think.

And when it comes to everyday life, he really knows how to make the best out of every possible scenario, and it doesn’t involve a lawsuit if he strikes a nerve.

6. “”Basically my wife was immature. I’d be at home in the bath and she’d come in and sink my boats.”" I never had a boat in my bathtub before. Just staring at it while soaking in hot water makes me seasick already.

7. “”I am not afraid of death, I just don’t want to be there when it happens.”" If it rains, it pours.

8. “”I am thankful for laughter, except when milk comes out of my nose.”" It could get worse when you’re guzzling on beer… or mouthwash, and it happened to me once!

9. “”If you want to make God laugh, tell him about your plans.”" At least he doesn’t smite us with lightning, and I’m thankful for that.

And despite of what may happen to all of us in the next ten, twenty, or even thirty years, I guess we all have to see things in a different kind of light and not just perspective. I can’t seem to imagine life without any piece of wisdom that could guide us. Whether we’re religious or not, it takes more courage to accept your fears and learn how to deal with them is all that matters when it comes to even just getting along.

And to sum things up, here is the last nugget of wisdom to go by… however, whenever, and wherever we may be.

10. “”The talent for being happy is appreciating and liking what you have, instead of what you don’t have.”"”
